Cranial Therapy
What is it?
Cranial therapy involves touching various pressure points on the head and inside the mouth in order to treat certain symptoms.
Treatment:
With a combination of the therapist holding certain pressure points, and with the assistance of the patient's breathing, stimulation occurs ( via the trigeminal nerve ) to that part of the brain that governs sensitivity to light and noise. This has the effect of relaxing any constrictions and reducing symptoms. Sometimes when an area in the spine stays tight, performing some cranial work first then allows for the release of that hard to move spinal segment
Results/ Effectiveness
People that benefit from this type of treatment have symptoms that include headaches, sinusitis, facial pain ( trigeminal neuralgia ), blocked nose, dysphagia ( difficuity swallowing ), or recurring tightness in the neck and back. Also, those individuals that have had a knock to the head, or receive dental treatment, such as pallet expansion, teeth removal or braces, can benefit from this sort of treatment.
