Biofeedback

What is it?
Biofeedback uses equipment that can monitor the changes that are occurring in your body (such as heart rate and breathing rate ) when you undertake different tasks.

Treatment:
You are visually able to monitor the changes to your heart rate, and if the heart rate is too fast, you can practise slowing it down by slowing down your breathing rate. When these two parameters are under control, there is a general sense of well being and feeling good.

Effectiveness:
This has proven to be a good educational tool and also quite challenging for some people. Through using biofeedback, indivduals can learn how to relax. Relaxation comes in many forms- some like to read, whilst others like to practise meditation, and by using biofeedback you can learn what techniques and hobbies are relaxing for you!
